A Clean Keto Kitchen
You have decided to start keto and are ready to commit to this new way of eating. Fabulous!! We are so excited for you to reap all the benefits of a Clean Keto Lifestyle!
Before you get started, we highly recommend giving your kitchen a quick and easy mini-makeover!
Keto Kitchen Basics
Cooking at home when you first start the ketogenic diet instead of eating out allows you to be in control of what you are putting into your body.
Restaurants can use refined oils, add sugars, or other additives to their foods, which sets your progress back. As a result, you ideally want to prepare your meals at home when you first begin the diet.
Don't worry if you are a "non-cook." Having a well-stocked kitchen and the right equipment is all you need to master keto cooking.
Let's go over our 5 Steps to a Clean Keto Kitchen.
Step 1: Get Informed
Like everything you do in life being prepared is the key to success. And to truly set yourself up for success, you need to know the basics. Information is power!
Knowing the science behind the ketogenic diet and why it works is very important as you set up your keto kitchen. In addition, learning the basics of what to eat and what to avoid is crucial. Here is a quick overview:
A ketogenic diet is low-carb, moderate protein, high-fat diet designed to exhaust glucose levels and prompt the body to provide an alternative source of energy to the brain. These alternative energy sources are called ketones, which are produced by the liver using stored fat.
When the body takes stored fat through the liver and produces ketones (small fuel molecules used as fuel throughout the body), it is called ketosis.
When you are in a state of ketosis, your body literally becomes a fat burning machine! Ketosis is the way for humans to operate most efficiently, and as mentioned earlier, it can lead to numerous benefits such as weight loss, more energy, improved focus, better sleep, clear skin, strength gain, reduced appetite, better digestion and balanced mood, to name a few.

Step 2: Clean Out Your Kitchen
It sounds simple, but it’s worth saying: When you have bad food in the house, you’ll eat it.
When embarking on a healthy eating plan, it’s a good idea to clean out your kitchen to remove any foods that no longer serve you (and may tempt you), while adding in new items that better support your health goals.
All you need to do is set aside 30 minutes to go through your kitchen and toss or donate what you no longer need.
Make sure to read the food labels on any packaged items. Condiments, sauces, even pickles can have added sugars.
Any ingredient you can't pronounce is a warning sign that it is not a real food. For some people, purging can be very liberating and motivating.
If you are one of those people, this will be an easy task. Others find purging to be extremely hard as they think that they are throwing away money and they have doubts about what they are actually going to eat. Be strong and push through these emotions. Think of this step as setting yourself up for success.
Don't worry! You are going to restock your kitchen with nutritious, fat burning foods.
